Waste yarn, 4ply cotton would be ideal
This garment starts with a wide rectangle. This is knitted in one piece, before being split to create the neck opening. The front and back are then worked separately before being grafted back together. An i-cord edging is then added at the neck and around the outer edges.
If you do not want to graft the pieces together, then you could simply cast each side off, and sew them together, however, this won’t give such a neat finish.
PDF download includes both written instructions and a chart, so you can use whichever you find more straightforward.
Please be aware that there are no instructions for creating a simple rectangular shawl or scarf (which is a modification that some knitters have made to this design).
